No Target Kailua (Stop Target)

Aloha, Mahalo for signing the No Target Kailua grassroots petition!

Yes, the concern continues to grow in our community about the “big box” Target store’s plan to build in Kailua! Despite this busy Christmas season, our grassroots community must continue saying NO to Target, Kaneohe Ranch, etc. who have operated under the radar far too long.

As a Community, we certainly have rights! Lets remain steadfast, a “united” Community laser-focused on preserving its priceless and unique character.
Briefly, this is why it’s NOT a done deal:
– Our Koolaupoko Sustainable Communities Plan (SCP) states “No big box stores”

– Our courageous Kailua Neighborhood Board in speaking out on behalf of our community (Nov. 9), received a threatening letter from Kaneohe Ranch’s lawyers (Nov. 12) which in turn was rebuked by letter written by Representatives Chris Lee and Cynthia Thielen (Nov. 24) … click here to view all: http://notargetkailua.blogspot.com/

– Kailua cannot sustain the negative traffic impacts to our small community

– Building permit has not been issued (or applied for by Target) through our City Dept. of Planning and Permitting

– Our community must continue its mission to preserve small businesses in Kailua as well as protect the “neighborhood character” of the town. We encourage you to review all posts on the No Target Kailua blogsite. TIME IS CRITICAL. As often as possible, *take action* — CALL and/or WRITE those listed on our “Contacts” list (cc everyone): http://notargetkailua.blogspot.com/2010/10/contacts.html

Please be respectful in your communications so that we can win support for our efforts.

– Call the Mayor and Council members, and ask them to fight for our neighborhoods and *support responsible development*.
