Kine Grinds Kailua $

People ask me frequently where they can find tasty, inexpensive food here in Kailua.  So for the next few weeks, I’m going to share my personal favorites.

Seeing tonight is the Farmer’s Market in Kailua, I’ll let you know about 3 of my favorite vendors…Located Behind Long’s & Macy’s from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm every Thursday.

1.  Da Spot-meals are $7 to $10, and includes a variety of currys, chix, vegetarian, and lamb dishes.  Located inside the parking garage about 2/3’s of the way down on your left as your head into the parking garage.  These kinds folks also have restaurant bearing the same name down on Kapahulu.  Check out the portions first as a plate may be enough for 2 people!

2. I can’t remember the name of this newer food vendor, I’m thinking something like Grandma’s Kitchen.  AWESOME seared Ahi plate!! (a bit spicy!)  They also offer seared poke as well as some other type of crusted fish.  The crusted fish dish sells out QUICKLY EVERY week, so I’ve not yet had the opportunity to try it!  Located in the uncovered portion almost to the end on the right had side as you walk away from Macy/Long’s.  $10

3.  Andy’s Bueno Salsa-This salsa is the best locally made salsa in Hawaii! This is not your Grandma Maria’s salsa, but her influences are clearly there.  You like it hot?  Check out the ghost pepper salsa, and each week he’s usually got some extra tasty, spicy treats for sale.  Chile pepper pickled pineapple?  Mango Salsa?  Chile Pepper Pickles.  Stop by for a sample, Andy himself is there every Thursday night. $4 to $7. They are the second vendor inside on the right hand side as you walk away from Longs.

Next week….My Enchanted Lake Favorite!
