Let’s go Paddling!!! Kahe Pt. to Makaha 2011

Aloha Paddlers!

Yep, it’s time for another paddle! The scheduled outing is for next Saturday, Oct., 22 from Kahe Pt. to Makaha, a distance of 10.5 miles, but we’ll be providing a shorter outing of just ½ the distance for our members that don’t want to do the long course.

The forecast for this weekend is for trade winds, 10-20 mph, so conditions should be nice. If the trades are blowing, they usually blow from Kahe Pt. to Makaha direction so the wind should be helping us if they come up.

So, here’s the plan…….We’ll be meeting at Kahe Pt. park, across the road from the Electric power station at 8:00 AM and plan the take-outs. Those that want to do the shorter route, will shuttle cars to Maile beach (5.6 miles) or Waianae harbor (7.5 miles), and those that want to do the whole route will shuttle to Makaha. Shuttle drivers will leave at 8:20 and we’ll plan to paddle away between 9 and 9:15. We’ll do a ½ way stop at whatever point the short course paddlers plan to take out, and then proceed on the final leg.

It should be a fun route with a couple of good surf-spots along the way, so let’s all hope for good weather! See ya there!

Also, we’ll be doing our last scheduled paddle of the year on Sunday, Nov. 13, so mark you calendars!!

Also remember that we may do some make-up paddles for those who may have missed a section of the island on the way around earlier in the year. We’ll be doing one, the Mokapu Pt. Sea Cave paddle, on Oct. 29, so even if you’ve done that one, it’s always a good trip so you may want to go.

One last reminder about the new site we are listing all of our paddles on , the www.Meetup.com site. Click the link, search for Hua Iki Kayak Club, join it, and then you’ll get to see who else is a member, you’ll be able to make post event evaluations of the trips, check our future calendar, swap messages with other members , make arrangements with other paddlers to do other trips, etc. Soon, we will ONLY be posting our events on that site and will phase out the email notification that we’ve been doing, so, if you plan to stay active with the club, it would be a good idea to join it on the Meetup site. OK guys, see you on Saturday!!!
